I’m Katie. My husband, Michael, and I moved into our old ranch house in the Atlanta suburbs 11 years ago, and we’ve been making updates ever since. Our real estate agent tried to warn us how expensive all of our ideas would be to implement, but well, we didn’t exactly listen, and here we are…

I love to make things — all kinds of things. Michael says my specialty is making messes — he may be on to something. Luckily, he’s pretty good at cleaning them up :) His skills also come in handy cleaning up after our precious infant (b. 2013), sweet toddler (b. 2011), and two wild mutts that learned mess-making from the master.

If you’d asked me what my style was a couple of years ago, I would have easily said casual traditional, but if you asked me now, I’d be hardpressed to put a label on it. Other than casual. But, if I were to try to narrow it down — I love cottage (but not too shabby chic), farmhouse (but not totally rustic), traditional (but updated), and modern (but not contemporary). Clear as mud? Shall I elaborate? I dig typography and all things monogrammed, gray, painted furniture, pops of bright color, plaid, photography, white, clean lines, old cameras, black, topiaries, gingham, bold graphics, red, wreaths, chevron, orbs, paisley, natural fiber rugs, green, board and batten, mercury glass, stripes, wooden plank walls/ceilings, buffalo check, and ceramic animals (that don’t look too realistic) — I could ramble on for a while…
